#90seconds

The Matangis have started a new initiative: #90seconds.
Matangi seeks deepening and artistic interpretation of online artistry in these times of isolation and loneliness.

Based on Helmut Krausser's novel Melodien, Matangi is looking for the secret melodies with mysterious healing powers which are believed to be lost. Composers from all over the world participate in this quest and compose a 90-second melody for string quartet.
Matangi records it in collaboration with NTR Radio 4, films it and then posts it on social media and other platforms to share these mysterious melodies. In this way, Matangi hopes to reach as many people as possible within 90 seconds together with the composers.
Monday April 27 between 16.00-19.00 the first four #90seconds will be presented during the NTR Radio 4 program "Podium"; Wupatki, Jacob Ter Veldhuis (NL) | Light, at the end of the tunnel, Chiel Meijering (NL) | Secret Melody, Markus Reuter (DE) | Composing a Fugue Suddenly interrupted by the Ghost of Frans Liszt, Pawel Szymanski (PL)

After the Corona Crisis, Matangi organizes a live-stream concert in The Hague where the quartet members can finally meet their audience again and enjoy these melodies together.

Naturally, we would also like the composers to receive their fair share for their compositions, which is why we are currently investigating the crowdfunding options. Keep an eye on our facebook and website for more information.
