The nominations for the Edisons Jazz and Classical 2023 have been announced. Forty-five nominees are competing for an Edison in fifteen categories.

After the successful performance at Jazzahead in Bremen, Matangi, Wolfert Brederode and Joost Lijbaart will be performing Ruins and Remains at North Sea Jazz in Rotterdam on Saturday, July 8.

Deze zomer gaan wij het album Beethoven vs Piazzolla uitbrengen. Dit album is opgenomen op 20 mei 2022 in de Nieuwe Kerk in Den Haag, tijdens ons concert in de serie Matangi Moments samen met Carel Kraayenhof.

After a successful performance at Jazzahead in Bremen with Ruins and Remains, we are returning to The Hague. During the Projazz Downtown Festival, we will play in Amare will play on Sunday 21 May at 4 p.m.

Violinist Sedna Heitzman will soon graduate from the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. With her we play Schnittke's third string quartet on her bachelor's exam, a piece that has been in Matangi's repertoire for a long time and is part of the Outcast programme. During Matangi Moments we play the full program Outcast with Sedna.

On Saturday 22 April, the final of the Princess Christina Competition took place in Amare The Hague. The level during this final was exceptionally high and in Category 2 there were even two first prize winners: saxophonist António Paulo Martins Melo and pianist Thijs Willers.

In 2023, Matangi will play works by Simeon ten Holt in two different programs. It is 100 years ago that the Bergen composer (deceased in 2012) was born. In the context of this centenary, the work of Simeon ten Holt is central in various Dutch concert halls.

It's a wrap, the (Un)heard Music Festival 2023! Two days full of music, dance and film inthe nice ambiance of Korzo in The Hague. John Psathas from New Zealand was composer-in-residence during the festival. Due to his Greek background, his music is an interesting fusion of European traditions, folk music from both continents and influences from jazz and pop music.

On March 24 & 25 there are two extra performances of Stop de Tijd. Come to Theater Bellevue in Amsterdam.

Hij speelde eerder met het Nederlands Blazers Ensemble en componeerde de muziek voor de Olympische Spelen van Athene. Componist John Psathas is dit weekend in Nederland de speciale gast tijdens het (Un)heard Music Festival van Matangi.

On Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 March, Matangi will present the (Un)heard Music Festival in Korzo The Hague for the 7th time.
